Cards with verification records

No verification records yet. Phase 1 only covers free checks (A2) and official sources (B); no card has been paid-tested at this merchant, so we list no “working cards”.

We never promise a payment will succeed; we only show verification records, evidence levels and dates.

Steps

  1. 1
    Check eligibility
Confirm on OpenAI’s supported-countries page that both your location and your card’s issuing bank are on the list.
  2. 2
    Check your card
Make sure the card is issued by a bank in a supported region and know whether it is credit, debit or prepaid (ask the issuer).
  3. 3
    Open the upgrade page
Log in to ChatGPT, click your profile icon, choose Upgrade Plan, then Get Plus (official path).
  4. 4
    Enter card and billing address
Card number, expiry, CVC and billing address (with ZIP) should match the issuer’s records.
  5. 5
    Complete 3DS
If your bank asks for verification, complete it without refreshing. If no prompt appears or it keeps failing, ask the issuer to enable 3DS for online, recurring or cross-border payments.
  6. 6
    If it fails
See our “ChatGPT card declined” page and OpenAI’s official help article.

Where we stand

  • This page only compiles rules from OpenAI’s official help center, each with a source and check date.
  • OpenAI has no guidance specific to “virtual cards”; anything not stated officially is marked “Not published”, never guessed.
  • Please comply with each platform’s terms of service.
  • We have not verified any virtual card at ChatGPT, so we list and rank none. No affiliate or referral links.

ChatGPT Plus vs. API billing

ChatGPT Plus is a web/app subscription; the OpenAI API is a separately billed developer product. For API credits OpenAI requires a standard credit or debit card — prepaid cards cannot buy API credits. Don’t mix up the two rule sets.

FAQ

OpenAI only states that prepaid cards cannot buy API credits. Whether ChatGPT Plus accepts them is not published.
